Under the Curvy Sea

For those that do not really know me, I love fantasy and sci-fi in my normal real life. Since I was a child, I spent Saturday mornings watching HR Puffinstuff, Doctor Who and other shows that dipped their toes into the fantastical. When I started doing stamping and crafts over 30 years ago, the first rubber stamps I bought were fantasy themed ones. So, when I saw this Mermaid set from Blank Page Muse, I was super excited since this mermaid had curves and so unique! This whole set is completely adorable!

Distressed Oxides – Antique Linen, Tatter Rose, Pickled Raspberry, Worn Lipstick, Wilted Violet & Spiced Marmalade

Alcohol Ink in Blue and Green

Alcohol Ink Blending Solution

Black Pigment Ink

White Pigment Ink

Pink, Yellow, Green, Black, White and Purple Stickles/Liquid Pearl glue

Black Permanent Ink

Iridescent Embossing Powder

Foam Tape

Water color paper

Matt White Cardstock

Instructions:

1. Taking out your watercolor paper (cut that down to standard A4 size), alcohol inks and blender solution, mix blue and green inks together in layers. Put down a small amount of blending solution, drip in one color, swirl around the page and dry that layer, before doing the same thing again only use green ink. Keep drying between applying the ink until you come up with a background you like.

2. Once the background is all dry, take out the seaweed stamp from the set and stamp with the white pigment ink several times across the bottom of the card. Emboss with your powder and melt powder completely. Once that is covered, use your black pigment ink and stamp across the bottom of the card between the white previously embossed seaweed. Use the same embossing powder to emboss these stamped sea weeds.

Completed embossed sea weed bottom boarder. It should look fairly blended and the white sea weeds are far more subtle.

3. Taking your regular white stamping paper and the permanent black ink, stamp out the mermaid, jelly fish and stamp out two starfishes.

4. Bust out whatever blending tool you have as well as those distress oxides (if you do not have them, you can use whatever supplies that would add color to your project), and start coloring them in.
